The question

Why should a simple conversion require uploading a personal file to a service?

The product decision

Make the processing boundary the product: files enter a local queue, are converted in the tab and are downloaded by the visitor. No conversion server.

In practice

  • Canvas for images; FFmpeg WebAssembly for audio and video.
  • A visible queue, progress and downloadable results.
  • The processing engine is served with the application.

What to know

Browser memory limits matter, especially for large videos. Supported media formats are explicit; this is not a universal document converter.
